Artibonite: The town of Kapenyen attacked in the middle of the night

An armed attack was reported in the town of Kapenyen, in the commune of L’Estère, Artibonite department, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.

According to information gathered from local sources, heavily armed individuals, identified as members of the “Kokorat San Ras” group, entered the area, accompanied by other armed groups.

Heavy gunfire was heard for several hours, causing panic among the residents.

Several houses were reportedly burned down during the attack, further aggravating the situation in this town in the Lower Artibonite region.
