The White House spokesperson warned on Wednesday that it would be “unacceptable” for Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz again, after the Iranian agency Fars announced its closure.
“The President was made aware of this information before I arrived here (for a press conference, ed.), It is completely unacceptable. Once again, this is an example in which what they say publicly is not what they say in private,” said Karoline Leavitt.
“We have seen an increase in passage through the strait today,” she stated, after Fars assured on its side: “In the past few hours, the passage of tankers through the Strait of Hormuz has been completely interrupted” and “this situation occurred after the Israeli attack on Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire.”
