The HNPMLLC is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented reporter to join our newsroom. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy and can balance daily assignments with enterprise reporting. Responsibilities

• Cover a mix of breaking news, local government, community events and feature stories
• Produce clean, accurate, AP‑style copy on deadline
• Manage multiple assignments at once and communicate proactively about progress
• Attend meetings, conduct interviews, and develop reliable sources
• Pitch story ideas that reflect community needs and emerging issues
• Collaborate with editors to refine angles, structure stories, and ensure clarity
• Take photos and gather multimedia elements as needed
• Uphold ethical standards and represent the paper professionally in the community

Qualifications

• Strong writing and reporting skills
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently
• Familiarity with AP style
• Comfort covering local government and public meetings
• Solid news judgment and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small newsroom
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred

• Previous experience at a newspaper or digital news outlet
• Knowledge of McKean County and surrounding communities
• Photography skills
