Iran announced negotiations with the American side to end the war starting Friday in Islamabad and for two weeks, shortly after American President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he was suspending his threat of massive bombings.
“It has been decided at the highest level that Iran will engage, for a period of two weeks (…), in negotiations with the American side in Islamabad,” stated the Supreme National Security Council in a statement.
“It is specified that this does not mean the end of the war, and that Iran will not accept the cessation of hostilities until” the negotiations have succeeded, the same source added, emphasizing that these two weeks could be extended “with the agreement of both parties.”
