Geneva: the OPC advocates for respecting the voting rights of Haitians

The Office of the Citizen Protection (OPC) participated, this Monday, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, in a session of the Network of National Human Rights Institutions of the Americas (RINDHCA), on the sidelines of the annual GANHRI meeting. In his speech, the Citizen Protector, Jean Wilner Morin, recalled the urgency of guaranteeing the right to vote to Haitians, who have been deprived of elections for nearly ten years. He welcomed the efforts of security forces against persistent insecurity, while warning of the threats from armed groups, particularly in Artibonite. Haiti’s NHRI must soon defend its A status before the accreditation committee.
