End of the mandate of the Transitional Presidential Council

IIt’s official. The Presidential Transition Council is no more, following the ceremony marking the end of its term, held this Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Villa d’Accueil. Five of the nine members of the Council were present, along with Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and the members of his cabinet, and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps. From now on, the Council of Ministers, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, will ensure continuity of government. On this occasion, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé chose not to deliver a formal speech. The head of government preferred, he said, to address a few words to those present. He announced that a cabinet meeting, his very first, would take place immediately after the ceremony. “I will address the nation this evening,” he declared.
