A judge orders the suspension of the construction of Trump’s ballroom at the White House

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the suspension of the construction of the ballroom desired by Donald Trump at the White House, a setback for the Republican who wants to leave his mark on the American landscape.

“The President of the United States is the guardian of the White House for future generations of presidential families. However, he is not its owner!” Judge Richard Leon wrote in his decision, specifying that the project would require Congress’s approval.

In October, the billionaire had an entire wing of the White House bulldozed to build a ballroom intended to accommodate up to 1,000 people, for various receptions and dinners in honor of foreign dignitaries.
