Identification: More than 1,000 cards distributed in one day as part of “Kat Ou La

The Haitian government is ramping up the distribution of national identification cards as part of Operation “Kat Ou La,” led by the National Identification Office.

According to official figures, 1,085 cards were distributed in a single day across several areas of the metropolitan region.

In Tabarre, 570 cards were issued on the sixth day of the operation, including 277 to women and 293 to men. In Canapé-Vert, 515 cards were issued on the second day.

This operation is part of efforts to strengthen citizen identification, a key element in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Authorities are urging citizens who have already completed the process to go to the centers to collect their cards.

In a context where identification remains a major challenge in Haiti, this acceleration of the process is presented as an important step to ensure voter participation.
